Golf Course Reviews & Swing How To's

I was never afraid of horses. Despite their large, muscular bodies, and their sturdy hooves that when used in force to kick any posing threat could send even the strongest person to the hospital.

I suppose what I was always focused on was their amazing coat; how it shined and paraded the most beautiful natural colors, each unique to the horse. I never overlooked their manes either, even when a little tangled seemed to blow majestically in the wind revealing their sweet faces.

As a result, I always got along well with the grandiose animals. I never felt threatened by their presence, and I am guessing the feeling was mutual. My mom always told me that horses can sense fear. Acting timid or fearful in their presence can prove their stubborn nature as they refuse to obey commands no matter how much of a strong front you present.

After spending the majority of my life on golf courses, one of the biggest parallels that I can draw to how to approach playing a round of golf is that of horses. Do you ever feel that sometimes the course can just sense fear? It’s like no matter how strong you try to appear, it simply refuses to comply with your golf shots. (Besides, horse and course even rhyme, coincidence?)
Yet, on the contrary, if you have ever had the luxury of playing golf without fear, did you notice that things just seemed to work out almost effortlessly?

They say golf is an individual sport, and sure, in competitive tournaments the players obviously compete against each other, but … they are also competing against the course.

Every single person that tees it up for a round of golf has one thing in common, they are about to engage in a competition against the course. While the other players may or may not be present depending on the type of round or competition, one thing is for sure, there are always two things present: the course and the player.

Much like the horse, try not to focus on the intimidating things about a course, such as the roaring oceans that line some holes, the numerous bunkers that litter the fairways, or the greens (either large or small) can sit taunting you with their tricky undulation, daring a brave soul to test them.
Yet, in turn, focus on the natural beauty that is unique to each course. The green grass, the breathtaking views, the fun times and memories, and the hard work and dedication that all goes into each golf course.

I can’t promise that every round will go as planned, but I believe that if you take the time to focus on all the beautiful things about each course, then instead of seeing only daunting challenges, you will see opportunities for growth and discovery, and maybe, just maybe, the fear inside of you will be overshadowed by appreciation and awe.

So welcome to my blog all about courses that I have played around the globe. I hope you have fun reading, and oh yeah, don't forget to guess exactly where I am...
